Job Description
It is a requirement for Officers to reside within the Avon and Somerset Force area. If you are relocating from outside of the force area, you may be eligible for a relocation allowance of up to £8000.
We Are Looking For Talented, Enthused And Passionate Detective Sergeants
To join our dedicated investigative teams to mainly on the following areas:
- Core Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) teams – investigating crimes ranging from assaults through to attempted murder, tackling threats to life from organised crime groups and finding missing people at the highest risk of harm.
- Operation Ruby – investigating and prosecuting the most predatory of offenders that pose a risk to children, ensuring the voice of the child is heard.
- Operation Bluestone – working with partners to identify, target and bring to justice perpetrators of Rape and Serious Sexual Offences, while providing an outstanding level of care and support to victims.
Our Chief Constable Sarah Crew is the national lead for sexual violence against Women and girls, and our passionate RASSO investigators are leading the way, with pioneering offender-based investigations.
You will need to be driven and determined to make a difference and we are looking for people who are curious and are not afraid to ask those key questions and be patient to gather all the evidence, what you bring to this role will change people’s lives.

Skills and Qualifications
As a leader you will have the drive, determination and leadership qualities to ensure your blended team of staff and officers make a difference, and ultimately change people’s lives for the better.
We are looking for Detective Sergeants who have completed the Investigative Supervisors Development Programme (ISDP).

The experience you bring, and the further specialist and dedicated skills you can develop, will enable you to make a real difference to so many.
Salary
The salary you will be offered on appointment will be equivalent to your current basic salary before any allowances are considered.

Location (CID)
Our CID teams have bases in both the North and South of the force area. The North hubs being in Bristol at Kenneth Steele House and Concorde House and the South being at Bridgwater and Yeovil.
Please ensure that when you are selecting your location preferences that you only select from the above 4 bases. Although we will always take your preferences into consideration the post you are offered will depend on organisational demands and needs at the time of offer.
Please note that our specialist teams for Child Protection and Adult Sexual are based predominately in Bridgwater and Kenneth Steele House.
