Detox Team Manager

Leeds

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Starting salary: £35,538.64 pa, increments at 6 month, 2.5 yrs and 5 years progressing to £37,713.89 pa

The Detox Team Manager will oversee the delivery and development of the Detox & Rehab team in Forward Leeds. You will work within St Anne’s value and behaviours, providing day to day leadership and management of the team. A critical part of the work is to ensure the provision is of high quality, and best practice is adhered to. That it is a proactive and responsive service. You will play a lead role of ensuring a trauma informed approach is embedded in service delivery.

The Detox & Rehab Team is located across Leeds in the three Forward Leeds Hubs. You will work across the three sites; some evening work will be required.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of service development across the city. While working closely with a wide variety of partnerships. The work is delivered in accordance with the values of St Anne’s Community Services and the Forward Leeds consortium.

To ensure that your service is delivered effectively and efficiently and within the values and beliefs, policies and procedures of St. Anne’s Community Services.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide effective leadership, management and support to staff, ensuring appropriate supervision, performance management, training and development.
  • Lead the Detox & Rehab teams, ensuring high-quality, person-centred and responsive services that meet best practice, contractual, policy and pathway requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, partner organisations and professionals, promoting collaborative working across all three Forward Leeds hubs.
  • Respond proactively to challenging situations, service pressures, incidents and concerns, protecting wellbeing, maintaining quality and minimising disruption to service delivery.
  • Monitor staff and service performance, quality, activity and outcomes, using data and feedback to identify risks and improvement opportunities and implement corrective action.
  • Identify changing service needs and contribute to service development, policy and procedure development, new ways of working and organisational change.
  • Promote continuous improvement, reflective practice, professional development, equality, inclusion and accountability, using learning from feedback, incidents and performance information.
  • Support workforce development through supervision, appraisal, training and coaching, enabling staff to maintain and develop their skills and competence.
  • Ensure effective use of resources and appropriate management, escalation and resolution of service risks, safeguarding concerns and quality issues.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

  • Provide effective day-to-day leadership, management and support to staff, ensuring employees receive appropriate supervision, direction, development and performance management in line with St Anne’s values, policies and procedures.
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of the Detox & Rehab service, ensuring it is high quality, proactive, responsive, person-centred and aligned with best practice, relevant policies, pathways, contractual requirements and organisational priorities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partner organisations, statutory and voluntary agencies and other professionals whose roles impact on the delivery of the Detox & Rehab service.
  • Work collaboratively across all three Forward Leeds hubs, promoting effective communication, joint working and consistency of practice, and contributing to the development and maintenance of strong partnership relationships.
  • Provide proactive leadership and management when responding to challenging situations, service pressures, incidents, staff concerns or issues affecting people accessing the service, ensuring appropriate action is taken to protect wellbeing, maintain service quality and minimise disruption to service delivery.
  • Promote and embed trauma-informed, person-centred and compassionate approaches across the team, recognising the impact that individual circumstances, life experiences and significant life events may have on wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and service delivery.
  • Ensure staff are appropriately supervised, supported and developed, identifying individual and team learning needs and ensuring appropriate training, professional development and support are provided.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, attendance, conduct and practice, addressing concerns promptly and taking appropriate management action where required to maintain professional standards, staff wellbeing and effective service delivery.
  • Monitor service activity, performance, quality and outcomes, using relevant data, feedback and service information to identify trends, risks, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use evidence from performance monitoring and quality assurance activity to inform decision-making, support service improvement, ensure resources are used effectively and implement timely corrective action where required.
  • Ensure the service operates within agreed resources and contributes to the effective management of staffing, capacity and other resources to meet service demand and organisational priorities.
  • Identify and respond to changing needs within the service, local population and wider substance misuse system, contributing to the development and implementation of service improvements, new ways of working, policies, procedures and pathways.
  • Lead and support staff through periods of change, ensuring that changes to practice, systems, structures or organisational priorities are communicated effectively and implemented in a planned, supportive and consistent manner.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Detox & Rehab service and wider Forward Leeds provision by identifying opportunities to improve access, quality, outcomes, partnership working and service-user experience.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, pathways and operational processes, ensuring they support safe, effective, consistent and evidence-informed practice.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, professional development, reflective practice and accountability, ensuring learning from incidents, feedback, complaints, performance information and service-user experience is used to improve practice.
  • Support workforce development through effective supervision, appraisal, training, coaching and professional development, encouraging staff to maintain and extend their knowledge, skills and professional competence.
  • Promote St Anne’s and Forward Leeds values and contribute to a positive organisational culture that supports inclusion, collaboration, accountability, innovation and high-quality service delivery.
  • Contribute to organisational and service planning by identifying opportunities that support the strategic aims and priorities of St Anne’s and Forward Leeds.
  • Ensure the views, experiences and needs of people accessing the service are considered in service development and improvement activity, promoting meaningful involvement and person-centred decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to resolve barriers to effective service delivery, improve pathways and promote positive outcomes for people accessing Detox & Rehab services.
  • Maintain effective communication with senior managers and relevant stakeholders, providing accurate information, reporting concerns and escalating risks appropriately to support effective operational and organisational decision-making.
  • Ensure that practice and service delivery remain responsive to identified risks, safeguarding concerns, quality issues and changing levels of need, taking appropriate action and escalating matters in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and appropriate records and management information, ensuring information is used responsibly to support service delivery, performance management, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in the delivery and development of services, ensuring that barriers to engagement and equitable access are identified and addressed.
  • Represent Detox & Rehab and Forward Leeds professionally in relevant internal and external meetings, forums, partnership arrangements and service development activities.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of providing effective day-to-day leadership, support and management to staff.
  • Experience of working within a complex health, social care, substance use, mental health or similar service environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within a drug and alcohol treatment or recovery service.
  • Relevant professional or vocational qualification in health, social care, substance use, leadership or a related discipline.
