How You'll Make a Difference

As a Developer within the Design, Develop and Transition team, you will use your Microsoft Power Platform development skills to design, build and enhance digital services that support council staff and residents. Working collaboratively with colleagues across technology and council services, you will turn user needs into secure, reliable and well-tested solutions that make a practical difference.

What You Will Be Doing

It will be your responsibility to:

  • Design, build, test and improve apps, integrations, processes and automations that meet user needs
  • Work on development tasks within the broader Microsoft ecosystem
  • Write clean, secure and well-tested code, following agreed standards and patterns, helping the team improve its development practices
  • Work from user stories and requirements, challenge assumptions or gaps, and collaborate with product owners, solution architects, testers and other specialists to identify effective technical approaches
  • Explain technical options clearly, build effective relationships with technical and non-technical colleagues, and take part in peer reviews of your own work and the work of others
  • Produce clear technical documentation, assist with testing and deployments and investigate and resolve issues as they arise

What We Need From You

It is essential you hold a degree in a computer-related field, or have equivalent technical knowledge or relevant practical experience. You may also hold, or be working towards, a relevant professional or technical qualification.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
