Developers - Assessment Reform - GCSE Physics

We’re looking for educators and assessment professionals who want to turn their expertise and experience into national impact.
As the leading provider of GCSE and A-level qualifications, and an education charity, we’re committed to helping learners from all backgrounds realise their potential. We’re now recruiting Developers to support the development of our reformed specifications. These roles are flexible and mostly remote.
What you’ll do
The role involves the production and development of sample assessment materials and resources, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements and best practice in assessment design. You will:
- Contribute to drafting high quality specimen assessment materials, including question papers, mark schemes and item commentaries.
- Revise materials based on feedback from relevant stakeholders, including AQA staff, associate colleagues, teachers and Ofqual.
- Support the development and review of resources that aid the teaching and learning of the specification.
We expect the programme of work to run over approximately 15 to 18 months. The majority of the work that you will be undertaking for AQA will involve you working at home, but you will also attend a mix of virtual and in-person meetings. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 4 days of meetings over the course of the project.

In your application’s personal statement, please provide evidence of:
- Recent, substantial teaching experience in the relevant subject, typically gained through several years of classroom practice, alongside deep subject expertise.
- Experience of writing or reviewing questions and/or marking or moderating.
- Consistency in meeting deadlines and delivering work to a strict schedule.
- Adaptability in refining work based on constructive feedback from multiple sources.
- Awareness of the regulatory obligations when producing assessment materials for awarding bodies.
- An understanding of the importance of inclusivity in assessment.
- A focus on quality and consistency, with a track record of producing error free materials.

Further information
This is a worker contract that will be reviewed regularly, you’ll be paid a fee for both your work and meeting attendance. The successful applicant can expect to receive total fees in the region of £1,450 to £2,500.
While we are asking for applications to our individual Science subjects, we will also consider your application for our available Combined Sciences Developer positions for the relevant subject.
In your personal statement, you must provide detailed examples from your experience to demonstrate your suitability, referring to the criteria listed above.
Please note that if you are interested in multiple Developer positions, you will need to create a separate application for each role.

Remote interviews are planned to take place towards the end of September.
