About the Role
The Churchill Fellowship is seeking a Development Director to lead our fundraising into its next chapter. For sixty years we have backed individuals with the passion and ideas to create change, funding them to travel, learn and turn that learning into action. Today we are a living network of more than 4,000 Fellows whose work touches almost every part of national life, and our three-year strategy makes proactive fundraising one of our core commitments.
Responsibilities
This is a senior leadership role on our Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Executive and leading our Development team. You will take strategic ownership of fundraising across major gifts, trusts and foundations, individual giving, legacies and partnerships, and you will be accountable for its performance. You will help us understand what we can realistically raise and from whom, develop a credible strategy for Board approval, and lead its delivery. You will also build and hold a portfolio of significant donor and funder relationships, working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and Ambassadors, and you will create the case for support that brings our wider Fellowship community behind our work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
