Job Description
Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection uses its global capability, manufacturing excellence and custom engineering to provide end-to-end gas and flame detection solutions for a wide range of hazards worldwide. We are looking for an experienced development engineer who has a strong understanding of software to join a motivated team of engineering staff in our product design and development group in Renfrew, UK.
As well as developing gas detector instruments, Teledyne GMI also develops a variety of calibration systems and software applications to complement our products. These software applications are used to manage the calibration process of our equipment, allow data to be extracted from our equipment locally or remotely via Ethernet or Wireless interfaces, and can push extracted data into networked SQL or Cloud-based platforms for dashboard visualization, report generation, data analysis, and record retention.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Full lifecycle software applications development
- Designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages.
- Front-end graphical user interface design (Windows desktop applications.)
- Verification and testing that software design output meets input requirements.
- Support, maintain, and upgrade of software products/packages.
- Project planning and project management.
- Preparation of software-related documentation including design specifications, test plans, and verification reports.
Skills/Experience
- C# (.net), Visual C++ (MFC), VB, HTML, PHP, SQL
- Microsoft Visual Studio and.NET framework (for desktop and embedded applications)
- Data communication over Serial UARTs, Ethernet, Wireless, TCP/IP
- SQL Server management and authentication
- Knowledge and understanding of Debian Linux distribution running MONO for.NET framework embedded applications are advantageous.
- Development of applications to run on iOS and Android is advantageous.
- Software development methodologies
- Working in an agile/scrum-based environment
Qualifications
- Honours Degree qualified in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar experience in a similar role.
