The Role
OS Studios is looking for a brilliant Development Executive to help us create, develop and sell the next generation of entertainment formats, original IP and content-led ideas. We're looking for someone who lives in ideas but knows how to turn them into something that gets commissioned.
You'll take the beginnings of an idea and turn it into a genuinely pitchable proposition: shaping the format, writing the treatment, building the story of the deck, briefing or creating a sizzle and ultimately helping us get it into the right rooms.
This is not a traditional agency new-business role. It's a hands-on creative development position sitting at the intersection of television, digital entertainment, creators, gaming, sport and brands.
You'll work directly with OS Studios' senior leadership alongside our strategy, creative, production and growth teams to build and actively sell a slate of original and client-funded entertainment concepts.
What You'll Do
- Originate and develop original entertainment, competition, reality, factual entertainment and digital-first formats.
- Turn early-stage ideas into compelling, commercially viable propositions.
- Write exceptional treatments, pitch documents, format decks and commissioner-facing materials.
- Develop ideas for broadcasters and streamers alongside YouTube, social and emerging entertainment platforms.
- Identify cultural, creator, gaming, sport and entertainment trends that could become new formats or valuable IP.
- Lead projects through the full development process: idea → research → format → treatment → sizzle → pitch.
- Work with OS designers, editors, producers and creatives to create brilliant pitch decks, pilots and sizzle reels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commissioners, platforms, production partners, creators and talent.
- Get our ideas into the right rooms and pitch them confidently.
- Develop entertainment opportunities around OS's existing relationships with some of the world's biggest brands, publishers, platforms and rights holders.
- Maintain an active development slate and relentlessly move the strongest ideas towards commission.
- Help identify opportunities where brands can behave more like entertainment companies, creating content audiences actively choose to watch rather than simply advertising to them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We're Looking For
You'll probably currently be a Development Executive, Senior Development Producer or similar within a production company, broadcaster, studio or digital-first entertainment business.
We're less interested in your exact title than what you've actually made, developed and pitched.
You should have:
- Strong experience developing unscripted entertainment and/or factual entertainment formats.
- A track record of taking ideas from a blank page through to pitch.
- Exceptional treatment and pitch-writing skills.
- A strong understanding of format mechanics and what makes an entertainment idea repeatable, ownable and sellable.
- Experience developing or briefing sizzle reels, pilots and other development materials.
- A strong network across UK broadcasters, streamers, commissioners, production companies and/or digital platforms.
- A genuine understanding of YouTube, creators and digital-first entertainment alongside traditional television.
- Strong instincts around talent, internet culture and emerging audience behaviours.
- The confidence to pitch senior commissioners, clients and partners.
- Commercial instincts: you understand that great development ultimately needs to result in commissioned work and valuable IP.
- An entrepreneurial mentality and the ability to make things happen without a huge development infrastructure around you.

The Person We Think Will Love This
Maybe you're a Senior Development Producer ready to make the jump to Development Executive.
Maybe you're already a Development Executive at an indie but want a much broader canvas than traditional television development.
Maybe you've spent your career developing TV formats but are equally obsessed with YouTube, creators, gaming and what's happening outside traditional broadcasting.
You'll probably have a contact book full of people you can call, a Notes app full of ideas you haven't had the opportunity to make yet, and strong opinions about what entertainment is going to look like over the next five years.
Most importantly, you'll be entrepreneurial, curious, persuasive and hands-on.
We don't want someone who just manages development. We want someone who develops.
