Role Description
The Development Manager will take ownership of the full lifecycle of care home development projects, from feasibility through to handover and completion. This role will manage feasibility assessments, planning applications, design development, and construction delivery in line with Yorkare’s quality standards. The Development Manager will liaise closely with local authorities, the design team, external consultants, specialist subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to progress schemes efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Managing project timelines and budgets
- Reviewing technical documentation
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and planning requirements
- Monitoring build quality
- Identifying risks
- Driving continuous improvement to maintain industry-leading development outcomes
- Maintaining health and safety requirements
Whilst the role will be based within the company’s head office in East Yorkshire, nationwide travel will be required to review site feasibility, meet with local stakeholders, attend site progress meetings, and coordinate project completion into operational readiness.
Requirements
- Strong project and development skills, including experience overseeing property or construction projects from concept to completion.
- Proficiency in site appraisal, feasibility analysis, and planning processes, ideally with exposure to care sector developments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects, planners, engineers, and contractors, with effective stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of UK planning regulations, building standards, and compliance requirements relevant to care home developments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Previous experience in care home development, residential development, or a similar sector is an advantage.
- Commitment to ethical, professional conduct and alignment with Yorkare’s values of diligence, quality, and integrity.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in construction, planning, surveying, or a related field is highly beneficial.
