About PIE
The Pooled Fund on International Energy (PIE) is an international grant-making and strategy platform working to deliver a just transition to a clean energy system. PIE collaborates with philanthropic foundations, peer re-granting organisations, and a global network of partners to drive system-level change across power and industry. PIE is establishing itself as an independent global foundation, supported by a high-performing, distributed international team.
Context the role
As PIE transitions to become an independent organisation, developing strong external relationships, a sustainable funding base, and a compelling external profile will be critical to achieving its mission. The Development Operations Associate role provides the opportunity for someone with the relevant experience and skill set to join a small team building a strong and professional partnerships and fundraising program from the ground up.
Reporting to the Senior Funder Coordination Advisor and working closely with colleagues across the Strategic Partnerships, Communications, Finance, Operations, and Programme teams, the Development Operations Associate will be essential to developing, implementing, and managing the internal tools, systems and processes that support the full fundraising lifecycle of the new PIE Foundation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
