Role Description
The Development Planner will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to help identify, assess, and promote land for residential and commercial development across Yorkshire. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Supporting site appraisals
- Preparing planning strategies
- Contributing to planning applications
- Liaising with consultants, local authorities, and stakeholders

The role involves analyzing policy and land use constraints, preparing documentation and reports, and assisting with community and stakeholder engagement aligned with Keyland’s Blueprint and sustainability principles. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Leeds, with a mix of office-based work and some work from home.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Development Planning, with experience in guiding sites through the planning promotion and application process.
- Knowledge of Regional Planning and the wider policy context affecting regeneration and strategic land promotion.
- Understanding of Land Use and Land Use Planning, including zoning, allocations, and development frameworks.
- Experience or training in Environmental Planning, with the ability to consider environmental constraints and sustainability objectives.
- Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Planning, Urban Development, Geography, or a related field, ideally with RTPI eligibility or membership.
- Ability to interpret planning policy and technical reports, and prepare clear written documents, reports, and presentations.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with proficiency in standard office and mapping/plan review software.
- Interest in sustainable development and regeneration, and alignment with Keyland’s Blueprint and Six Capitals model.
