Job Introduction
We’re a not-for-profit organisation with a focus on providing quality homes at below-market rents for people who would otherwise struggle to afford them. We are both a landlord and a developer, with more than 60,000 existing homes and 8,000 more in our pipeline, and a well-established commercial business from which we reinvest surpluses to support the provision of below market-rent homes across the capital.
What You’ll Do
Lead the financial management and accounting of the Group’s development projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Manage and develop the project finance team, maintaining effective controls over invoice processing and project transactions.
- Maintain the integrity of the project ledger, ensuring costs are correctly recorded, supported and allocated across projects, tenure and legal entities.
- Oversee Value Added Tax (VAT) accounting, ensuring VAT is correctly analysed, recorded, and recoverable amounts are identified and recovered promptly.
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure budgets, forecasts and key financial arrangements are accurately maintained and reported.
- Oversee intercompany development transactions, ensuring costs incurred by Design & Build entities are billed and reconciled on a timely basis.
- Work with Development Finance and Joint Ventures and Development Delivery teams to ensure appropriate intercompany development and lease agreements are in place.
- Monitor project financial performance, providing insight and challenge on costs, forecasts, cash flows, risks, and emerging issues.
- Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, supporting evidence and audit trails, ensuring period and year-end requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
- Act as a key point of contact for development accounting matters, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external auditors and other advisers and ensuring queries and information requests are resolved promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement in development finance processes, controls, systems and reporting, making effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O) and data analysis.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
