Job Description
The Compliance Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining the Development Services Compliance Framework and delivering regulatory compliance activities across Development Services. The position undertakes and coordinates investigations, monitors regulatory compliance and works with Planning, Building, Environmental Health and other technical specialists to support consistent, risk-based and defensible compliance outcomes.

- Base annual salary $97,694 per annum dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
- Relevant qualifications in regulatory compliance, investigations, local government, planning, building, environmental health, law, public administration or related discipline; or substantial relevant experience in regulatory compliance and enforcement
- Demonstrated experience undertaking regulatory compliance investigations and enforcement activities
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated experience gathering and assessing evidence and preparing investigation reports, regulatory correspondence and recommendations
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills, with demonstrated ability to manage challenging interactions and negotiate practical compliance outcomes with customers, landowners, businesses and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex or sensitive compliance matters and competing priorities
- Proficiency in relevant regulatory, case management and corporate information systems
- Current WA C Class Driver's Licence

Desirable experience:
- Local government experience
- Experience developing or implementing compliance frameworks, procedures or risk-based regulatory programs
- Experience in development, land use, building, environmental health or property-related compliance
- Experience supporting prosecution, appeal or other formal regulatory proceedings
- Formal qualification in investigation or regulatory compliance
