Development Underwriter – Commercial Insurance

A well-established and growth-focused insurance business in Glasgow is looking to appoint an experienced Development Underwriter to strengthen its commercial underwriting capability and drive new business across the Scottish market.
This is a key role for someone who thrives on building broker relationships, generating income, and underwriting profitable commercial risks with confidence and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a profitable commercial portfolio across Scotland
- Build strong, long-term relationships with brokers in the Glasgow market
- Underwrite new business and renewals within authority limits
- Identify market opportunities and contribute to regional growth plans
- Provide technical insight, product knowledge, and commercial guidance
- Collaborate with wider underwriting, sales, and leadership teams
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Commercial Underwriter or Development Underwriter
- Strong broker relationship-building skills and commercial acumen
- Ability to assess, price, and negotiate risks confidently
- Knowledge of the Scottish commercial insurance market
- A proactive, revenue-focused mindset with strong communication skills
