Are you an ambitious planning professional looking to make a real impact on some of the UK's most significant development projects?
Solihull Council is seeking a Development / Senior Planning Development Officer to join our Development Management Group. This is an exciting opportunity where you will play a leading role in shaping major strategic developments across the UK Central Programme impacting the West Midlands region and beyond.
You will:
- Lead on significant and sensitive development proposals from pre-application stage through to implementation
- Develop medium term strategies to ensure projects/proposals are robustly assessed, and stakeholders are engaged at all stages.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and assessments on wide-ranging and complex planning proposals.
- Present evidence at planning appeals, including acting as expert witness at public inquiries.
- Support the determination of minor planning applications as service demands require.
- Undertake planning enforcement duties, including site visits and investigations.
You will be:
- A qualified planning professional or hold a relevant degree with demonstrable planning experience.
You will bring:
- Experience of development management and project delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- The confidence to present complex planning matters to a variety of audiences.
- A proactive, collaborative and customer-focused approach.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for this role. Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where required.
