DevOps Architect – Secure Platforms

Location: Fulltime onsite at a secure UK Site (Farnborough, Erskine or Newcastle with Two days a week in Corsham p/w)

Contract: Initial 7 Months - £95 p/h Inside IR35

Clearance: Active DV Clearance Required

We are seeking an experienced DV cleared contract DevOps Architect to lead the design, implementation and assurance of secure DevOps tooling platforms within highly regulated, air-gapped environments.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll architect and deliver integrated DevOps capabilities supporting critical UK Government programmes. Working closely with engineering, security and operational teams, you'll ensure the DevOps toolchain is secure, resilient, automated and fully aligned with strict security and accreditation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design and implementation of enterprise DevOps platforms.
  • Design and integrate secure DevOps ecosystems within offline (air-gapped) environments.
  • Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
  • Design workflows and reporting within Jira.
  • Develop structured documentation and knowledge management solutions using Confluence.
  • Deliver automation and configuration management using Ansible.
  • Design secure software promotion, patching and update processes for disconnected environments.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and automation best practices.
  • Conduct technical design reviews, security assessments and compliance assurance activities.
  • Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), security documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Work closely with delivery, infrastructure and security teams across secure customer sites.
  • Travel to the Corsham site Two days per week

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Architect or Senior DevOps Engineer within secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing and supporting DevOps platforms within air-gapped/offline environments.
  • GitLab (Repositories, Runners, CI/CD Pipelines)
  • Confluence
  • Ansible
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Configuration Management
  • CI/CD
  • Secure software delivery
  • Experience managing package repositories, artefact repositories and controlled software updates.
  • Knowledge of build and release management, access control, auditability and change traceability.
  • Experience with VMware technologies.
  • Experience producing technical documentation including HLDs, LLDs, SOPs and security architecture documentation.
