Hays are now looking for a DevOps Architect / Transformation Lead for one of our local clients:
£600 p/d Inside IR35
Remote (with occasional meetings in York)
6 month+ contract

What you'll be doing
- Assess existing software engineering and DevOps operating models.
- Review CI/CD pipelines, release processes, branching strategies and development workflows.
- Identify delivery bottlenecks and opportunities to improve engineering productivity.
- Define recommendations and transformation roadmaps to improve software delivery performance.
- Run workshops with engineering, architecture and leadership teams.
- Promote best practices across SDLC, platform engineering, automation and DevOps.
- Help organisations adopt AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
- Measure and improve engineering effectiveness using metrics and data-led insights.

What we're looking for
- Strong background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Architecture or Engineering Transformation.
- Experience assessing and improving software delivery processes within large organisations.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Git workflows, release management and cloud-native delivery.
- Experience driving engineering maturity, automation and developer productivity improvements.
- Ability to engage senior stakeholders and provide strategic recommendations.
- Knowledge of DORA metrics, developer experience (DevEx) and engineering effectiveness.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar.
