I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You don’t need to be an Azure specialist, but any experience with Azure DevOps, Azure landing zones, ARM/Bicep, or Azure cloud services would be a bonus.
This would suit someone who is technically strong, practical, and comfortable working in fast-moving delivery teams. You’ll need to be able to communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, while keeping a focus on secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
Please note: Successful applicants will need to be eligible for BPSS and DV security clearance. This will typically require 10 years’ continuous UK address history, no significant periods spent overseas, and British nationality eligibility at the point of application. Some travel to client sites may be required.
