Contract Senior DevOps Engineer
2-3 days a week Wiltshire HQ
Up to £67 p/h Inside IR35
DV clearance is essential
We are looking for an experienced DV Cleared Senior DevOps Engineer to join an engineering team responsible for designing, delivering and supporting modern DevOps capabilities across secure environments.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining DevOps engineering, automation, infrastructure as code and CI/CD with ownership of engineering work packages and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
Essential Skills & Experience
You will bring strong hands-on DevOps engineering experience, with the ability to combine technical delivery with leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and version control, particularly Git.
- Hands-on experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Strong scripting capability using Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
- Practical experience with containerisation technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrable experience designing, implementing and supporting automation solutions.
- Experience designing and maintaining pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging technologies, such as ELK, Prometheus or Splunk.
- Experience with secrets management, including HashiCorp Vault and/or PKI.
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior/early-career engineers.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:

- Lead the design, build and support of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks and containerised environments.
- Take ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution and reporting.
- Develop and review automation solutions, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates and technical documentation.
- Integrate DevOps solutions across secure environments, ensuring compliance with performance, security and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to DevOps Engineers and Technicians.
- Work closely with stakeholders, project teams and customers to ensure solutions meet technical and operational requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards, processes and governance.
