DevOps Engineer - AWS, Terraform & Kafka Streaming
London | Hybrid Working (2 Days Onsite Every Fortnight) | 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | £700-775 Per Day
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a DevOps Engineer to join a major cloud and data transformation programme within a globally recognised aviation organisation.
Following the successful delivery of a Proof of Concept, the business is now scaling a next-generation self-service data platform built across AWS and Confluent Cloud. The platform is designed to enable real-time data streaming and event-driven data products that support critical operational systems across the organisation, creating a unique opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with strong AWS expertise and knowledge of Kafka and streaming technologies.

Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to improve automation and delivery capabilities.
- Support the deployment and operation of Kafka-based and event-driven platform services.
- Work closely with engineering teams delivering real-time streaming data products.
- Monitor platform performance, security, resilience and availability.
- Drive DevOps best practices across cloud infrastructure and platform engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, Kubernetes and Kafka-related operational issues.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies.
- Strong Terraform experience including modular architecture and remote state management.
- Proven background delivering large-scale cloud platform solutions.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerised environments.
- Strong Linux administration and infrastructure engineering expertise.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
- Understanding of Kafka, streaming technologies or event-driven architectures within cloud environments.

Desirable Experience
- Hands-on experience supporting Kafka, Confluent Cloud or enterprise streaming platforms.
- Experience working with real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
- Exposure to modern data platform engineering environments.
- Experience operating within large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.
