DevOps Engineer

Location: Leeds (1x/month on-site, otherwise remote)
Rate: £500/day, Inside IR35
Duration: Until March 2027

Overview

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure on a public sector digital programme. This is a hands-on AWS and Terraform role, with a bit of Python for scripting and automation on the side.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, provision and manage AWS infrastructure across the platform
  • Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, including modules and state management
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable deployments
  • Use Python for scripting, automation and tooling tasks
  • Monitor infrastructure health and performance, resolving issues proactively
  • Collaborate with developers and architects to deliver secure, scalable environments
  • Support incident resolution and platform troubleshooting as required
  • Contribute to documentation and best practice around infrastructure and deployment

Key Requirements

  • Strong, hands-on Terraform experience (modules, state management, remote backends)
  • Solid AWS expertise across core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch)
  • Comfortable working with Python for scripting and automation
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Comfortable working remote-first, with monthly travel to Leeds
