Location: Glasgow, UK β€” fully onsite

πŸ“Œ Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced DevOps / Platform Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate reliable cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience across CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, networking, scripting, and cloud infrastructure, with a solid understanding of both private cloud and Kubernetes-based environments.

πŸ”§ Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable and highly available platforms.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
  • Deploy and operate workloads across Kubernetes and private cloud Virtual Server Instances (VSI).
  • Develop automation and operational tooling using Python and Bash.
  • Manage infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Implement secure network architectures, including segmentation, ingress/egress controls, and service-to-service connectivity.
  • Support secure traffic flow across different network zones and environments.
  • Configure and manage L4/L7 load balancing, traffic distribution, and high-availability solutions.
  • Work with cloud-native services and technologies across AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Support performance tuning, scaling, and operational stability of production environments.
  • Implement and maintain DNS, routing, auto-scaling, CDN, WAF, and perimeter security solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, security, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and delivery.

βœ… Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Formal training or certification in Platform Engineering concepts.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, deployment, and operational stability.
  • Strong knowledge of automation and continuous delivery / CI/CD methodologies.
  • Practical cloud-native experience with private cloud VSI and Kubernetes, including an understanding of their respective trade-offs.
  • Strong understanding of network boundaries, including:
    • Network segmentation
    • Ingress/egress controls
    • Service-to-service connectivity
    • Secure zone-to-zone traffic flow
  • Strong DevOps toolchain expertise, particularly:
    • CI/CD
    • Kubernetes
    • Terraform
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Bash.

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CKA
    • CKAD
    • AWS Solutions Architect
    • AWS DevOps Engineer
  • Hands-on experience provisioning, deploying, and operating workloads across Private Cloud VSI and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with L4/L7 load balancers, traffic distribution, and high-availability patterns.
  • Knowledge of serverless technologies, such as AWS Lambda, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • DNS
    • Routing
    • Auto-scaling
    • Horizontal and vertical scaling
    • Performance tuning under load
  • Experience with AWS services such as:
    • ECS
    • EKS
    • MSK
  • Experience with CDN, WAF, network perimeter design, and network security.
