About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Belfast-based engineering team. This is a hybrid role that offers a unique opportunity to work on a critical re-platforming project involving the migration of legacy applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will be instrumental in modernizing our systems to adopt cloud-native best practices, ensuring high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, influence architecture decisions, and contribute to shaping the DevOps practices across the organization. This role is ideal for a proactive engineer who thrives on end-to-end ownership and is eager to make a tangible impact on a significant technological transformation.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with extensive experience in AWS and DevOps practices. Key qualifications include:
- Deep and broad experience with AWS services, demonstrating comprehensive understanding rather than siloed knowledge of individual components
- Strong fundamentals in Linux system administration and troubleshooting
- Solid networking knowledge and understanding of distributed architectures
- Proven experience in owning and managing production environments from inception to operation
- Hands-on experience with containerized workloads using Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes in production environments
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or similar
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Go, or comparable languages
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of technical and leadership duties, including:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Leading the migration of legacy systems into cloud-native architectures, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency
- Developing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code scripts to automate deployment and management processes
- Enhancing system reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives
- Modernizing CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid, safe deployment across multiple environments
- Supporting incident response activities, troubleshooting issues, and improving operational visibility through monitoring, logging, and tracing tools
- Mentoring junior engineers, promoting best practices, and contributing to engineering standards and design reviews
