About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and inquisitive Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in London. This pivotal role involves planning, designing, building, and testing our next-generation cloud platform, which integrates digital video assets, wearable data, and athlete information to deliver actionable insights to coaching staff, sports scientists, and athletes. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for platform engineering and a drive for continuous learning and improvement. You will be responsible for owning infrastructure automation, ensuring system reliability, and implementing security best practices across our cloud environment. As a technical leader, you will define and execute the architectural roadmap, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish standards to ensure our infrastructure remains scalable, secure, and innovative. Your work will directly impact how our clients harness data to optimize athlete performance, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to a transformative industry.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform or Infrastructure Engineering, with demonstrated leadership roles
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud platform, including security and compliance practices
  • Strong background in infrastructure automation (IaC), using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable software deployment
  • Solid understanding of observability tools, logging, monitoring, and SLO/SLI frameworks
  • Experience managing hybrid environments, including traditional data centers and on-premises services
  • Knowledge of application security principles and integrating security into build and deployment pipelines (AppSec)
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and GDPR
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience working in regulated industries and managing security-first initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance
  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure automation and configuration management using IaC tools
  • Develop and oversee logging, monitoring, alerting, and SLO/SLI frameworks to ensure system health
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate fast, safe, and repeatable software delivery
  • Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with relevant regulatory standards, including implementing security controls and conducting audits
  • Lead security initiatives by collaborating with security and IT teams to embed security best practices into the platform
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for the cloud platform, evaluating emerging technologies for scalability and innovation
  • Establish technical governance standards, including reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns and deployment "Golden Paths"
  • Architect and promote a "Shift-Left" security strategy, integrating automated security checks into development workflows
  • Mentor engineering teams and promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
