About The Role
As a DevOps Engineer at CGI, you will play a vital role in supporting mission-critical systems that ensure the safety and security of the UK. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain automated, scalable, and secure platforms that underpin high-impact programmes. You will be instrumental in implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automating infrastructure provisioning, and optimizing deployment workflows to enhance system reliability and performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including software developers, infrastructure engineers, and security professionals—you will contribute innovative solutions that address complex technical challenges. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated projects within a secure environment, where your expertise will directly impact national security initiatives.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong background in DevOps or platform engineering, with proven experience in automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure management within secure or enterprise environments. Essential qualifications include proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or C++, along with solid Linux system administration skills. Hands-on experience with automation tools like Terraform and Ansible is required, as well as familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Candidates should also have experience working with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Git, or Bitbucket, and be knowledgeable about messaging systems such as ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ, as well as databases like MySQL. A good understanding of PKI and security best practices is essential to ensure systems are compliant and secure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive, collaborative approach, capable of navigating complex technical landscapes and delivering innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks to support the deployment of secure, reliable systems within on-premise environments.
- Streamlining development and deployment workflows, ensuring platforms are scalable, resilient, and aligned with both technical and business requirements.
- Collaborating closely with software developers, infrastructure engineers, and security teams to implement best practices across automation, containerization, and system monitoring.
- Automating infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform and Ansible, developing backend tooling, and deploying containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining security standards in line with PKI and enterprise policies.
- Supporting messaging systems and databases, ensuring seamless integration and high availability of systems.
