About The Role
Hippo is seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Managed Services Team as part of our ongoing growth. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the architectural vision and technical strategy for both our clients and internal practices. As a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including C-level executives, you will lead complex technical engagements, providing strategic guidance and hands-on leadership in DevOps and engineering practices. You will influence architectural standards, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and well-engineered systems. Your expertise will help define and evangelize best practices across Hippo’s digital delivery practice, contribute to thought leadership initiatives, and support business development activities through technical responses and strategic input. This role offers significant opportunities for growth at the Lead level, with a clear pathway for progression within the organization.

Qualifications
- Extensive senior-level experience as a DevOps Engineer or Technical Architect, with a proven record of leading large-scale digital transformations
- Expert proficiency with AWS cloud services and designing complex multi-cloud architectures
- Advanced scripting and automation skills in Python
- Deep understanding of cloud-native technology stacks, including Kubernetes (EKS) and CI/CD tooling
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly using Terraform for complex deployments
- Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively with C-suite and executive stakeholders
- Expert knowledge of security, networking, and governance principles in a cloud environment
- Experience working in a consultancy environment, including pre-sales and business growth activities
- Mastery of Agile methodologies and their application across distributed teams
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills for engineering teams
- Eligible for SC Clearance
Responsibilities
- Define and promote architectural vision, standards, and best practices across Hippo’s digital delivery practice
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, guiding long-term technical strategies and digital transformation initiatives
- Lead and oversee complex technical engagements, ensuring quality and consistency in automated infrastructure deployment
- Mentor and develop the skills of DevOps engineers and senior technical staff within the team
- Drive pre-sales activities by leading technical responses to proposals and shaping new business opportunities
- Contribute to Hippo’s thought leadership through public speaking, writing, and community engagement
- Make and communicate key architectural decisions that impact multiple projects or clients
- Lead recruitment efforts for engineering talent and foster strategic contributions within Managed Services, DevOps, and Engineering communities
- Participate in on-call rotations as part of the Managed Services team to ensure continuous support and incident management
