DevOps Engineer - Azure | Azure DevOps | Terraform | CI/CD | DevSecOps

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on expertise across Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code to shape and continuously improve DevOps practices across a complex technology estate. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, driving a pragmatic DevOps improvement roadmap, modernising delivery processes and working across multiple teams to improve automation, security, reliability and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain scalable Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including reusable YAML templates.
- Define and evolve DevOps standards, patterns and best practices across delivery teams.
- Lead Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM/Bicep or equivalent.
- Drive automation-first approaches, reducing manual release and environment-provisioning effort.
- Standardise branching, release and deployment strategies and improve deployment reliability.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and observability frameworks.
- Improve system resilience, recovery capability and operational readiness.
- Embed DevSecOps, security controls, secrets management, identity and least-privilege principles into pipelines and infrastructure.
- Reduce configuration drift and technical debt through automation and repeatable provisioning.
- Support containerisation and modern deployment models where appropriate.
- Work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Delivery, Cyber Security and BAU teams.
- Proactively identify improvement opportunities and drive initiatives from discovery through implementation and adoption.

Essential Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure and Azure DevOps.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD and experience designing scalable pipelines.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform and/or ARM/Bicep.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and observability.
- Strong knowledge of Git branching, version control and release/deployment strategies.
- Experience embedding security into cloud and pipeline configurations.
- Proven ability to work independently and solve ambiguous technical and delivery problems.
- Experience influencing engineering standards and practices across multiple teams.
- Strong planning, prioritisation, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Experience coaching and enabling other engineers.

Desirable
- Experience with containerisation and modern deployment models.
- Experience modernising legacy release processes and introducing automation incrementally.
- Experience working across mixed technology estates with different levels of DevOps maturity.
- Experience developing DevOps maturity measures, baselines or improvement roadmaps.
- Azure DevOps Engineer Expert certification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
