Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer | up to £80,000 | Fully Remote

Pearson Carter are currently working with an exciting technology company who are looking to expand their team with a strong Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer.

This is a hands-on role supporting a production AWS environment, CDN and WAF infrastructure, and the CI/CD pipelines used by development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor and improve a production AWS estate
  • Design, maintain and improve infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
  • Write and tune WAF rules across Akamai and Cloudflare
  • Support and improve CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintain infrastructure including nginx, Redis and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
  • Monitor and respond to infrastructure issues using tools such as Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom and New Relic
  • Investigate production incidents, identify root causes and coordinate with relevant teams
  • Automate repetitive tasks using Python and Bash
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps/Systems Administration
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience within a production environment
  • Strong cloud architecture experience and knowledge of AWS services including EC2, load balancers and VPC
  • Experience with nginx, Redis, Apache and MariaDB/RDS/Postgres
  • Strong experience with Terraform
  • Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
  • Strong Python and Bash scripting skills for automation
  • Experience managing CDN and WAF infrastructure, particularly Akamai
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines

Salary

They offer a strong salary of up to £80,000, plus a strong benefits package.

Location

This is a fully remote position, based in the UK. The role includes participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, currently two weeks in every four, moving to two weeks in every six once the successful candidate is fully established in the role.
