Purpose of Job:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to develop DevOps at Bytes Software Services. As a DevOps Engineer, you will build on the existing DevOps environment and work across Development and Systems Infrastructure to ensure that all areas of IT are working cohesively. You will establish tooling and processes that enable continuous deployment and improve our release velocity. Your primary focus will be establishing safe processes to ensure the rapid deployment of code from dev to production while also ensuring the overall stability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, capable of driving initiatives forward and building a team of talented engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/Establish and maintain a robust continuous deployment pipeline (Argo CD & GitOps) that enables seamless software delivery across all environments, from development to production.
- Design, implement, and maintain the necessary tooling, frameworks, and automation scripts required for efficient deployment and management of applications on Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, QA, operations and Infrastructure, to drive the adoption of DevOps best practices and ensure smooth and timely releases.
- Display technical expertise in using all aspects of Azure, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate DevOps tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance the deployment process and overall infrastructure.
- Monitor and analyze system performance and implement optimizations to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and provide technical solutions that align with the company's objectives.
- Liaise with external resources (suppliers / manufacturers / support providers).
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in DevOps practices, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies, and propose innovative approaches to enhance our release.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:
Essential Knowledge:
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of software development and deployment processes and working collaboratively across dev, ops, and infrastructure teams.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc).
- Hands-on experience with Azure and associated services (compute, storage, networking).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (such as Docker) and orchestration tools (such as Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of configuration management tools (such as Terraform & Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (such as Argo CD, Github actions) and version control systems (such as Git).

Additional Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and security principles and secret management.

- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Ability to provide training to other team members and other employees.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good documentation skills including Visio drawings.
- Previous experience in fault finding and troubleshooting Azure, Kubernetes, and Argo CD.

Training Provision:
- Necessary training on products and applications where required.
- Bytes Software Services Ltd provide a full induction programme to assist in integration to the organisation. The individual will also be expected to attend training courses and take exams to assist with keeping up the business’ vendor accreditations.
Additional Information:
- Based at Bytes Software Service head office in Leatherhead.
- The role is based in Leatherhead but Bytes offer Hybrid working.
- Occasional out-of-hours work may be required.
