GCP DevOps Engineer

£70,000 Remote

This is a new opportunity to join a well-established retail business with a large, mature Google Cloud estate across multiple environments. As a GCP DevOps Engineer, you'll be a dedicated resource working alongside the existing platform team. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day DevOps operation of the in-cluster platform and workload layer across their GKE estate.

This role suits a hands-on DevOps Engineer with deep GCP and Kubernetes experience and strong Datadog skills. It isn't a firefighting role. You'll build on a solid platform by developing the Datadog monitoring estate, keeping security and CVE standards high, and acting as a technical adviser to the platform team on platform-layer improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run, maintain and upgrade in-cluster platform tooling, including FluxCD
  • Deploy workloads through GitOps and troubleshoot deployment and platform issues
  • Scale and right-size workloads, and provision namespaces and environments
  • Audit and improve Datadog by cutting alert noise, closing coverage gaps and building dashboards
  • Link runbooks to alerts and set up notification routing for P1 escalation paths
  • Fix High and Critical CVEs within a 14-day target and maintain base images
  • Review Security Command Center findings and keep a clear audit trail for compliance
  • Write runbooks and documentation, and escalate to third-party partners where needed
  • Take part in monthly and quarterly service reviews

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
