Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS) | Up to £75,000 | Manchester

AWS. High-volume infrastructure. Genuine ownership.

Are you an experienced DevOps Engineer who's tired of simply keeping the lights on?

What if you could take ownership of an entire AWS environment, influence architectural decisions and genuinely shape how a growing technology business scales?

We're partnering with an ambitious, technology-led business in the logistics sector that's investing heavily in its platform, infrastructure and engineering capabilities.

With increasing transaction volumes, complex integrations and a growing customer base, they're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take the lead on AWS infrastructure, reliability, security and scalability.

And this isn't a role where you'll be buried beneath layers of management. You'll work directly with the CTO and alongside an experienced engineering team, with the autonomy to challenge existing infrastructure, introduce improvements and make decisions that have a real impact.

🚀 The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure behind a busy, business-critical technology platform.

Think high-volume APIs, complex integrations, background processing and unpredictable spikes in traffic.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

When something breaks, slows down or needs scaling, you'll be the person who understands why, knows how to fix it and, more importantly, can prevent it happening again.

Your focus will include:

  • Owning and evolving AWS infrastructure across production environments.
  • Optimising ECS/Fargate, EC2, RDS/MySQL and containerised workloads.
  • Improving platform performance, reliability, monitoring and security.
  • Developing Infrastructure-as-Code and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshooting complex production issues across databases, networking, applications and infrastructure.
  • Building scalable architecture that can handle continued growth.
  • Improving disaster recovery, resilience and AWS cost efficiency.

👀 Who Are We Looking For?

We're interested in speaking with engineers who have spent the last 6+ years working across DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE or AWS infrastructure.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Strong, hands-on AWS experience, particularly ECS/Fargate.
  • Solid Docker, Terraform/CloudFormation and CI/CD knowledge.
  • Experience managing and optimising RDS/MySQL in production.
  • Strong Linux, networking, security and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting high-traffic, business-critical platforms.
  • The confidence to work independently and make technical decisions.

Experience with Redis, SQS, PHP/Laravel, Python or high-volume API platforms would be a bonus.

We're not looking for someone who knows every AWS service under the sun. We're looking for someone who understands infrastructure properly, enjoys solving difficult problems and takes pride in building things that work.

💰 What's on Offer?

  • Salary: Up to £75,000.
  • Location: Manchester.
  • Working model: Minimum four days per week in the office.
  • Direct collaboration with the CTO.
  • Genuine technical ownership and architectural influence.
  • The opportunity to shape and mature a growing AWS environment.
  • Interesting technical challenges, real responsibility and plenty of scope to make your mark.

📩 Interested?

You might be perfectly happy where you are. You might not even be actively looking.

But if you're the kind of engineer who enjoys getting under the bonnet of complex systems, solving problems others struggle with and having the freedom to make meaningful improvements, this could be worth a conversation.

Drop me a message or apply directly and I'll happily talk you through the business, the platform and what makes this opportunity interesting.

All conversations are completely confidential.
