About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with active SC Clearance to join our esteemed client, a prominent technology consultancy specializing in delivering large-scale cloud solutions for critical public sector programs. This is a permanent position offering an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects that impact national security and public safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure, implementing automation strategies, and ensuring the reliability and security of cloud platforms. This role involves close collaboration with development teams, stakeholders, and other engineering professionals to deliver scalable, efficient, and secure cloud solutions. The position is based in Newcastle with a hybrid working model, combining office presence with remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in DevOps or platform engineering, with proven experience in managing large-scale AWS environments. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, and proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitHub. Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation is required, along with monitoring solutions like Prometheus and Grafana. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent communication skills, stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues. Eligibility for SC Clearance is mandatory, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work and the security requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure AWS cloud infrastructure and platform solutions aligned with project requirements.
  • Automate deployment processes and infrastructure provisioning using industry best practices and tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Implement and uphold engineering standards, ensuring consistency, security, and efficiency across cloud platforms.
  • Provide hands-on support for development and engineering teams, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and platform issues to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Monitor cloud environments using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand technical needs and translate them into scalable cloud solutions.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Participate in security and compliance activities, ensuring all cloud solutions meet necessary security standards and policies.
