About Pixaera
Pixaera builds immersive and AI-generated health & safety training used by industrial workforces — mining, oil & gas, energy, and data centres. Our platform trains thousands of people every day for enterprise customers across Europe and the Middle East. We are a small, senior, remote-first engineering team, and we are now building an engineering presence in Amman.
The role in one line
An infrastructure engineer who can confidently own production systems end to end, and who instinctively automates anything that shouldn't need a human.
What you'll actually work on
- Full-stack infrastructure ownership. Deep, hands-on experience across cloud, CI/CD, monitoring, security, and developer experience. You make infrastructure decisions independently, drive platform modernisation, and are trusted with production.
- Reliability leadership. You set and track SLOs (uptime, deploy frequency, recovery time), own incident response, and build the runbooks and practices that make on-call sustainable.
- Build and pipeline architecture. You design reusable, versioned CI/CD workflows and manage self-hosted runner fleets as code, with golden images and self-healing. Unreal Engine or Windows build experience is a strong plus.
- Scaling compute-heavy workloads. You've scaled long-running render or batch workloads and taken designs from paper to production.
- Cloud cost strategy. You have a track record of measurable savings through tagging, right-sizing, spot and reserved capacity, and spend visibility.
- Security and compliance. You bring expertise in secrets management, least-privilege access, and patching. Experience with SOC 2, pen testing, and enterprise security reviews is valued.

Our stack
- Cloud: AWS as primary — multi-account (management / dev / staging / production), multi-region (Frankfurt and UAE). Some GCP for rendering.
- IaC & GitOps: Terraform with Atlantis, ArgoCD, Helm.
- Kubernetes: Amazon EKS, Karpenter, External DNS, AWS Load Balancer Controller, IRSA, external secrets.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions including self-hosted Windows runners for Unreal builds. TeamCity still in legacy use.
- Observability: Datadog (APM, logs, monitors, cloud cost), CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry.
- Security: Vanta, AWS Security Hub and Inspector, 1Password, Tailscale, Dependabot.
- Also in the picture: Docker, PostgreSQL/RDS, Redis, S3, Lambda, GPU instances, Unreal Engine, and pixel streaming.
Must-haves
- 3–6 years in DevOps, platform, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong hands-on AWS — you've built and operated real production infrastructure, not just consumed it.
- Terraform in earnest: modules, state, code review, and having recovered from a bad apply.
- Kubernetes in production — can debug a failing pod, a broken ingress, or a stuck rollout without guessing.
- CI/CD pipeline ownership, ideally GitHub Actions.
- Confident scripting in Python, Go, or Bash — enough to automate rather than repeat.
- A monitoring and incident instinct: alerts that mean something, and the discipline to write the runbook afterwards.
- Comfortable being the person who owns a problem in a small team, and asking for help early when it's outside your depth.
- Strong written English — we're largely async and written, and documentation is part of the job.

Nice-to-haves
- ArgoCD, Helm, or GitOps workflows specifically.
- Cloud cost optimisation with results you can point to.
- Windows build agents, or game/graphics build pipelines (Unreal, Perforce).
- GPU workloads and render infrastructure.
- SOC 2 / ISO 27001 support, penetration test coordination, or compliance automation (Vanta or similar).
- Datadog specifically.
Location, setup, and comp
- Working day should overlap UK hours; English is our working language.
- Compensation is competitive and benchmarked to the Amman market.

- Intro call with our recruiting partner
- Hiring manager conversation
- Technical interview with our platform and engineering leads
- Short practical exercise or troubleshooting session
- Final conversation with the team. We aim to move within 3–4 weeks.
