The Role: DevOps Engineer
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll design, build, operate, and continuously improve secure cloud and platform solutions supporting critical government and client missions. Responsibilities span the full software delivery lifecycle, from infrastructure automation and deployment to platform operations and service optimisation.
This hands-on technical role focuses on modern DevOps and cloud-native engineering, leveraging technologies like:
- AWS and Azure
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, ECS
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
You’ll lead Agile multi-disciplinary teams, establishing secure CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure, and optimising observability and monitoring. Adhering to SRE-aligned principles, you’ll ensure resilience and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure DevSecOps pipelines for seamless software delivery.
- Develop and automate cloud infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Support and optimise public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for mission-critical services.
- Collaborate with software engineers, testers, and architects to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployments, and environment issues.
- Contribute to cloud migration, platform improvements, and engineering best practices.
- Share knowledge and reusable automation patterns across the organisation.
- Comply with security, governance, and information-handling requirements in regulated environments.
This role may require onsite attendance at client locations (London/South West) and higher levels of security clearance.
Experience Required
Essential
-
Hands-on experience in DevOps/Platform Engineering, including:
- Container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, ECS).
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent).
- Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
- Monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.

Problem-solving skills and adaptability in Agile, cross-functional environments.

Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance in regulated environments.
Desirable
- Experience in government/defence/mission-critical sectors.
- Participation in cloud migration or large-scale platform transformation initiatives.
- DevSecOps principles, including secure software delivery and automation.

Security Clearance Requirements
To apply, candidates must:
- Be a British national.
- Be eligible for and able to maintain an SC security clearance, with potential to progress to higher clearance levels.
Location & Travel Requirements
While based primarily in the Horsham office, this role requires two onsite days per month and occasional travel to client locations across the UK.
