DevOps Engineer (GCP / GKE)

12-Month Contract
£550/day Outside IR35
Remote (UK)

I'm looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer for a 12-month remote contract. You'll be the dedicated engineer looking after a customer's Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) platform on Google Cloud.

Key responsibilities

  • Run, monitor and upgrade in-cluster tooling, and deploy workloads using GitOps (FluxCD)
  • Troubleshoot deployment and platform issues, escalating infrastructure problems to the customer's infrastructure partner
  • Scale and right-size workloads (CPU/memory, HPA) and set up namespaces and environments
  • Own Datadog: audit monitors and dashboards, cut alert noise, close coverage gaps and set up alert routing for P1 escalation
  • Fix High and Critical vulnerabilities within 14 days and review Security Command Center findings
  • Maintain the base image repository and a timestamped audit trail for compliance
  • Write runbooks and escalation paths, and support on-call readiness
  • Act as a technical sounding board for the customer's platform team and join service reviews

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
