Senior Azure DevOps Engineer – Contract
3-month contract | Outside IR35 | £500–£550/day | Remote UK
We’re working with a leading organisation undertaking a major Azure platform migration and are looking for a Senior Azure DevOps / Platform Engineer to join on an initial 3-month contract.
The client has recently built a new Azure hub-and-spoke platform centred around AKS, with infrastructure delivered through Terraform and Helm and CI/CD managed through Azure DevOps. The immediate focus is migrating existing services onto the new platform while modernising and decommissioning legacy infrastructure.
The Role
You’ll be hands-on across the Azure estate, helping migrate live services into AKS, rework their deployment pipelines and extend the underlying Infrastructure as Code.
Key areas will include:
- Migrating existing services onto AKS and into new Azure subscriptions
- Moving services and pipelines into a new Azure DevOps project and standardising deployment processes
- Developing and maintaining Terraform modules across multiple environments/regions
- Authoring and maintaining Helm charts for microservices
- Supporting Kubernetes deployments, ingress, workload identity, scaling and troubleshooting
- Working on Azure Front Door, WAF, Firewall, DNS and routing
- Helping migrate internal traffic away from Cloudflare onto Azure-native services
- Safely decommissioning legacy infrastructure and managing dependencies/state
- Optimising Azure services including Cosmos DB and Redis for performance and cost
- Supporting security hardening and vulnerability scanning
- Maintaining healthy CI/CD pipelines and supporting wider platform engineering/BAU activity
- Producing clear runbooks and handover documentation for SRE teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
