Mission
This role exists to develop and mature the DevOps function at Bytes, establishing the tools, processes, and best practices required to support rapid, secure, and reliable software delivery.
- From designing deployment pipelines to implementing cloud-native technologies and automation frameworks, you will play a key role in ensuring our platforms remain scalable, resilient, and efficient.
- Working closely with Development, Infrastructure, and Operations teams, you will drive collaboration across IT functions while helping build a modern DevOps culture that supports innovation and continuous delivery.
What you will deliver within the role
- You will develop, enhance, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, leveraging technologies such as Argo CD, GitOps, and GitHub Actions to enable seamless software delivery.
- You will design, implement, and support tooling, frameworks, and automation required for efficient deployment and management of applications within Kubernetes environments.
- You will collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to drive the adoption of DevOps best practices and improve release velocity.
- You will utilise Azure technologies to design and support secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud environments.
- You will evaluate, implement, and optimise DevOps tools and platforms that improve deployment efficiency and infrastructure management.
- You will monitor system performance and implement improvements that enhance availability, scalability, and reliability.
- You will champion security best practices and ensure infrastructure and deployment processes align with industry standards and organisational requirements.
- You will work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop technical solutions that support strategic objectives.
- You will support the troubleshooting and resolution of issues across Azure, Kubernetes, and deployment platforms.
- You will contribute to the growth and evolution of the DevOps practice, helping establish standards, processes, and future capability.

Essentials
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, working across development, operations, and infrastructure teams.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and associated cloud services, including compute, storage, and networking.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD methodologies and tooling, including Argo CD, GitHub Actions, and Git-based workflows.
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management tools, including Terraform and Ansible.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and secret management.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting Azure, Kubernetes, and deployment environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
- A self-motivated and proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
