DevOps Engineer – GCP / Kubernetes

Initial contract to end of December 2026 | Inside IR35 | Hybrid UK

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a financial services technology environment, with a focus on improving the reliability, performance and efficiency of cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes workloads and CI/CD platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will take ownership of build and deployment tooling, GCP infrastructure and Kubernetes environments, while helping development teams improve their engineering and operational practices.

You will be particularly focused on Kubernetes, GCP, Python, Jenkins and Tekton, alongside infrastructure-as-code, observability and DevSecOps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues across Kubernetes clusters, including networking, autoscaling and resource utilisation.
  • Design, implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Tekton.
  • Improve build, test and deployment workflows, including artifact management, caching and security gates.
  • Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure and environment provisioning within GCP.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or equivalent tooling.
  • Implement and improve observability through logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards and alerting.
  • Apply DevSecOps practices including container image hardening, secrets management, SBOMs and vulnerability scanning.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis and contribute to capacity and performance planning.
  • Optimise Jenkins controllers and build infrastructure to improve stability and reduce downtime.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to improve CI/CD adoption, operational excellence and platform reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship around pipeline usage and engineering best practice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
