Software Engineer (DevOps/DevSecOps)

12 months
£67.70 per hour (Inside IR35) - Possibly negotiable
Defence
Occasional travel to New Malden, Portsmouth or Frimley

This role is responsible for supporting the development and ongoing improvements to the Software Factory that is used to develop new Strategic Projects software products. The Software Factory provides a suite of tools to support software development within the Combat Systems Product Realisation Group.

The Strategic Projects New Dev team is developing the next generation cloud-ready open, modular, extensible and readily supportable combat management system software product. The Software Factory implements and encapsulates the processes used for modern, efficient software development using DevSecOps and cloud computing services. This role will develop solutions and implement capability to meet the Product Owner's vision. The role will also support the downstream integration of the product in an air-gapped environment.

Typical duties include:

  • Work in an Agile team supporting the Scrum Master and Product Owner in delivering work items
  • Design and implement solutions for the Software Factory
  • Support other developers both in design, development and reviewing code
  • Support the INTeACT Dev team with the integration and testing of the product
  • Contribute to a continuous learning and feedback process in relation to the DevSecOps approach

Knowledge:

  • Batchelor’s degree with honours (or other qualification plus appropriate further learning to honours degree level) in engineering, technology or science
  • Membership of a Professional Engineering Institute recognised by the Engineering Council
  • Working towards being Professionally Registered at IEng / CEng level
