We are supporting a government client in urgently hiring a DevOps Engineer to support the replacement of a legacy system and database with a new AWS serverless solution.

This is a hands-on DevOps role covering knowledge transfer during transition, followed by ongoing L3 support and development of the new platform. The successful candidate will need strong, demonstrable experience across the full essential tech stack, including CI/CD pipeline design, AWS serverless components, secrets management and Linux administration.

This role suits an experienced DevOps Engineer comfortable stepping into a live transition process, taking on L3 support responsibilities and contributing to ongoing development of a modern, serverless AWS platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take part in transition and knowledge transfer activity as the legacy system and database is replaced with a new AWS serverless solution
  • Provide ongoing L3 support for the new platform, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues
  • Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Concourse
  • Develop and maintain AWS serverless components, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS and SAM templates
  • Manage secrets and access control using HashiCorp Vault and AWS IAM
  • Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting using AWS CloudWatch
  • Administer Linux environments and develop automation using shell scripting and Python

Essential Skills

  • Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience
  • Strong Python experience
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Jenkins and Concourse
  • Hands-on experience with AWS SAM and CloudFormation
  • Experience with secrets management and AWS IAM
  • Hands-on experience with AWS managed components, including DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS and CloudWatch (including CloudWatch Alerts)
  • Experience with HashiCorp Vault integration

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting live transition and knowledge transfer processes
  • Experience providing L3 support within a government or other regulated environment
  • Experience working within a serverless-first AWS environment
