Job Title: DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared)
Location: Remote (with ad-hoc travel to client's office in London - likely once a month)
Contract Length: 12 Months (with scope to extend)

Clearance Required: SC (needs to have been used within the past 10 months)
We are supporting a government client in hiring a DevOps Engineer to join their engineering team, supporting the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of a business-critical platform operating within a secure operational environment.
This is a hands-on DevOps role covering platform infrastructure, deployment pipelines and live service support, working closely with development, support and platform teams to maintain service reliability, availability, security and performance. The successful candidate will need strong, demonstrable experience across AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, Windows and Linux administration, and monitoring/observability tooling.
This role suits an experienced DevOps Engineer comfortable operating within a highly regulated environment, contributing to operational resilience and service continuity, and participating in incident response and on-call rotas as required, given that many of the supported systems operate 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Support AWS-hosted infrastructure and platform services in line with established standards and procedures
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Support Docker-based applications and platform components across development, test and production environments
- Assist with the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Groovy and GitLab
- Monitor platform health, performance and availability using Elastic, Kibana and other monitoring tools
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment and service-related issues, escalating where appropriate
- Support networking technologies including VPNs, OpenVPN, Transit Gateway and API Gateway under the guidance of senior engineers
- Support NGINX, PostgreSQL and associated platform components to ensure stable and reliable service operation
- Contribute to operational resilience, service continuity and disaster recovery activities
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support guides
- Participate in operational support activities, incident response and on-call rotas as required

Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on AWS experience, including Transit Gateway and API Gateway
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
- Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Groovy and GitLab
- Experience with Docker-based applications across development, test and production environments
- Strong Linux and Windows administration experience
- Experience with NGINX and PostgreSQL (EC2 and RDS hosted environments)
- Experience with VPN and OpenVPN technologies
- Experience with AWS Virtual Desktop
- Experience with infrastructure and service monitoring using Elastic and Kibana, including performance monitoring, log analysis and root cause analysis

- Experience with container orchestration platforms
- Experience with infrastructure security and hardening
- Experience with cloud networking and connectivity
- Application support knowledge across C#,.NET, JavaScript, React, REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience supporting Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products in secure operational environments
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting intelligence, analytical or partner-provided systems
- Exposure to solutions such as SOLAR, MAT or equivalent operational platforms
- Understanding of integrating internally developed applications with third-party products
- Experience supporting AI-enabled services, including exposure to Large Language Model (LLM) solutions
- Experience with data analytics and monitoring platforms
