Hays are supporting a major public sector programme with multiple DevOps Engineering opportunities across several critical technology projects. We are recruiting for five DevOps professionals to join secure, business-critical environments delivering platform, infrastructure and automation capabilities.
These opportunities sit within large-scale cloud and platform engineering teams and offer the chance to support, enhance and continuously improve highly available services operating within secure environments.
Your new role
As a DevOps Engineer, you'll support the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines and live services. Working alongside development, platform and support teams, you'll contribute to the reliability, performance, security and scalability of critical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Support and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and services
- Develop and enhance automation, deployment and CI/CD capabilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform and service issues
- Monitor platform health, availability and performance
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements and operational resilience
- Support incident management and service recovery activities
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment processes and service reliability
- Participate in support and on-call activities where required
- Follow established security standards and operational processes within secure environments

What you'll need to succeed
Essential skills and experience
- Active SC Clearance currently held and sponsored by a Government client
- Strong DevOps engineering experience within cloud-based environments
- Experience supporting and maintaining platform infrastructure and deployment pipelines
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, automation and CI/CD practices
- Experience working within secure or regulated environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams
- Experience supporting live production services

Desirable skills and experience
- Experience with public cloud platforms
- Experience with containerised environments
- Knowledge of monitoring, observability and operational tooling
- Scripting or automation experience
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or government platforms
What you'll get in return
