Job Title

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to build and improve secure, scalable engineering platforms and continuous delivery capabilities. You will combine hands-on Kubernetes and OpenShift engineering with infrastructure as code, developer enablement and strong observability practices.
Location: Manchester, UK
Basis: 12-month fixed term contract
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, operate and improve Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Support developer enablement through Backstage and internal developer platform capabilities.
- Design and enhance continuous delivery pipelines and deployment automation.
- Implement observability using metrics, telemetry and service-level objectives.
- Automate operational runbooks and repeatable platform processes.
- Apply platform engineering and control engineering principles to improve reliability and governance.
- Collaborate with UK and offshore engineering teams to deliver consistent platform outcomes.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong Kubernetes and OpenShift engineering experience.
- Hands-on Terraform expertise.
- Experience with Backstage or internal developer platforms.
- Strong continuous delivery and deployment automation knowledge.
- Practical observability experience, including metrics, telemetry and SLOs.
- Experience automating operational runbooks.
- Understanding of platform engineering and control engineering.
