Senior DevOps Manager - Hybrid - Surrey (1 office day per week) - Perm - £90-95K
An excellent opportunity to be at the heart of a significant transformation within a legacy engineering team; creating a DevOps function and then leading the team through the transition and migration to a modern stack.
Taking responsibility for both an Ops team (of 5-6) and an Engineering team (3-4), you'll initially build them into a combined DevOps function to manage the ongoing development and maintenance of the business's core product. Built on Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS and.net/web application stacks, the product is the source of the bulk of the company's revenue and is mission critical.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll need experience both in development and operations environments; running incidents and support as well as software engineering and deployment.
In addition to the BAU work of establishing a combined DevOps function and managing the ongoing product development, you will be responsible (in conjunction with the CTO and other technical teams) for starting to break up the product and migrate it to a modern cloud stack, alongside the other company products.
This will involve the ability to manage significant change; both the team integration, and then migrating services from legacy to cloud platforms, retraining developers and sysops, and over time migrating the entire product away from the current environment. The long term aim for this role is to own the core product and DevOps team in the new, modern environment.
