DevOps Platform Engineer | Commodity Trading | C# | £600/Day Outside IR35 | Hybrid

A strong DevOps Platform Engineer / Software Engineer with deep experience across Terraform, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code is required by a major Commodity Trading House for their Data & Digitalisation team. The hire will play a key role in building and scaling a brand-new enterprise data platform. This is a unique opportunity to join a major digitalisation project, focused on moving away from fragmented and siloed data systems and creating a centralised data platform where everything is brought together in one place.

The team is effectively building its own Data Tools with everything being built largely from scratch using open-source technologies, with the platforms hosted across Kubernetes and on-premises infrastructure.

This is not a traditional Data Engineering or DevOps role. Instead, we're looking for someone who combines the strengths of a Software Engineer and Platform/DevOps Engineer—someone capable of writing production code and APIs while also being highly experienced with Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD and infrastructure deployment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
