Your Role And Responsibilities

We are seeking a DevOps Platform Engineer to play a key role in integrating Taos by IBM capabilities into the OPES Practice landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our cloud engineering offerings by driving the alignment of skills, services, delivery models, and technical capabilities across a rapidly evolving platform engineering organisation.

In this role, you will work closely with engineering leaders, architects, and delivery teams to define and develop a scalable cloud engineering skills taxonomy that supports both existing and newly integrated offerings. You will provide technical consulting expertise across cloud platform services, contribute to service standardisation, and help position the organisation for growth across modern cloud, automation, DevOps, and platform engineering engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of Taos by IBM engineering capabilities into OPES technical practices and delivery models.
  • Define and maintain a scalable skills taxonomy aligned to cloud platform engineering services and market offerings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify capability gaps, emerging skills, and service alignment opportunities.
  • Support the standardisation of cloud engineering methodologies, tooling, and best practices.
  • Provide technical consulting expertise across cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, and DevOps initiatives.
  • Develop technical documentation, capability frameworks, and operational process guidance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support onboarding, enablement, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance delivery quality and operational scalability.

  • Strong experience in cloud platform engineering, infrastructure, or technical consulting roles.
  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and platform engineering practices.
  • Ability to define technical capability frameworks, skills taxonomies, or service models.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in enterprise or large-scale transformation environments.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Experience integrating teams, services, or capabilities following mergers or acquisitions.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and modern engineering operating models.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tooling, Kubernetes, Terraform, or cloud automation frameworks.
  • Experience with organisational capability mapping or workforce enablement initiatives.
  • Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications).
