DevOps / Platform Security Engineer – Insurtech
Remote – UK | c£80,000
We’re recruiting for an exciting Insurtech start-up business looking for a hands-on DevOps / Platform Security Engineer to take a key role in the development, operation and security of its cloud-based technology platform. This is a broad role combining DevOps Engineering with cloud/platform security, making it an excellent opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys building robust cloud infrastructure while also taking real ownership of security, governance, resilience and emerging AI technologies. Working closely with the wider technology team, you’ll help ensure the platform is secure, scalable, observable and well governed, including the rapidly evolving challenges associated with Agentic AI and AI-enabled applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Building, maintaining and improving Azure cloud infrastructure, environments and deployment pipelines
- Designing and managing appropriate sandbox, development, test and production separation
- Developing automation, tooling and platform capabilities using Python
- Taking ownership of platform and cloud security, identifying vulnerabilities and strengthening security controls
- Implementing and managing static, dynamic and AI-assisted security analysis
- Developing effective observability, monitoring, logging, alerting and auditability
- Supporting platform performance, reliability, scalability and Azure cloud cost control
- Managing AI model routing, access, usage and governance
- Supporting the integration and operation of AI-enabled applications and services
- Ensuring appropriate controls around the use of Agentic AI, AI models and AI-enabled services
- Supporting security, risk and compliance requirements as the business and platform scale
- Working collaboratively with Developers, Data/AI specialists and other technical stakeholders to embed security throughout the development lifecycle
- Helping establish secure engineering practices for AI workloads, APIs, automation and cloud-native services

- Commercial experience in DevOps, Platform and Cloud Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud security
- Solid Python development/scripting for automation, tooling or platform engineering
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML, LLMs, Generative AI or AI-enabled applications
- Experience with Agentic AI / AI agents and an understanding of AI security and governance
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, audit logging and security tooling
- Experience in Insurtech or Fintech, with the flexibility to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who wants more breadth and ownership than a traditional DevOps position, combining Azure cloud engineering, Python development, security and cutting-edge AI / Agentic AI technology within a growing Insurtech.
