About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled DevOps & Python Engineer to join our dynamic team remotely. This role is pivotal in supporting a cutting-edge programme dedicated to delivering modern, cloud-based services that underpin immigration and border management systems. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Python development, cloud infrastructure, and container orchestration, with a keen interest in automation and platform enhancement within an Agile setting. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-native solutions that meet the evolving needs of our client. Your expertise will directly contribute to the seamless operation and continuous improvement of critical border management services, ensuring they are resilient, secure, and highly available.

  • Proven experience in Python development within a commercial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Go (Golang) for building scalable microservices.
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and managing cloud-native containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, LDAP, or Active Directory integrations.
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks, including Pytest and Go testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, automation practices, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively within an Agile team environment.
  • Active SC Clearance is required, and applicants must be sole UK nationals.

Responsibilities

The DevOps & Python Engineer will be responsible for a range of technical and collaborative tasks, including:

  • Developing and maintaining automation tools, APIs, and platform services using Python and Go to streamline operations and improve system efficiency.
  • Automating infrastructure provisioning and cloud resource management within AWS to ensure rapid deployment and scalability.
  • Supporting and enhancing Kubernetes-based platforms, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Integrating enterprise tooling such as LDAP, HashiCorp Vault, JIRA, and Confluence to facilitate secure and efficient workflows.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous integration and delivery of software updates.
  • Implementing rigorous testing protocols to uphold high standards of code quality, security, and reliability.
  • Collaborating closely with platform, development, and operations teams to deliver scalable, resilient solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to optimize platform stability and security.
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continually enhance platform capabilities.
