About the Role
As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will join Tesco Mobile's DevSecOps Squad to support and enhance cloud platform capabilities across AWS, Azure and private cloud environments. You'll play a key role in maintaining secure, reliable and scalable platforms, driving automation and infrastructure as code adoption, and supporting the developer ecosystem used across Tesco Mobile. Working closely with engineering, architecture and cyber security teams, you'll help shape platform strategy while remaining hands-on with delivery.
You will be responsible for
- Providing technical leadership within the DevSecOps squad.
- Maintaining cloud platforms to high standards of reliability, security and recoverability.
- Influencing systems design decisions and reviewing technical proposals.
- Driving continuous improvements in DevSecOps processes and tooling.
- Working with Cyber Security and other stakeholders to implement security enhancements.
- Championing platform automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability and engineering excellence.
- Collaborating with software engineers, architects, security specialists and product teams.
- Promoting self-service capabilities and automation solutions.
- Balancing strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery.
- Mentoring and supporting colleagues where required.
- Supporting and administering cloud platforms and central developer tooling, including GitHub and Splunk.
You will need
- Strong experience in cloud platform engineering, with expertise in AWS, Azure or both.
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles and secure platform design.
- Experience with automation, observability and systems reliability engineering practices.
- Ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in agile engineering environments.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, platform standardisation and reducing technical debt.
- Experience supporting developer tooling and engineering platforms would be advantageous.
