DevSecOps Policy Engineer – SiXworks
Overview
At SiXworks, we build secure digital solutions that protect Defence and National Security missions. Our teams tackle complex challenges where reliability, speed, and innovation are critical. We’re recruiting a DevSecOps Policy Engineer passionate about solving technical challenges and delivering impactful work.
About the Role
The DevSecOps Policy Engineer will:
- Design, build, and maintain secure digital solutions in highly controlled environments.
- Work closely with DevOps, engineering, architecture, and delivery teams to deliver technology supporting efficient decision-making.
- Translate regulatory and internal security standards into automated code for Azure, VCF, and Hyper-V-based deployments.
- Develop user interfaces (JavaScript/TypeScript & React) and leverage containerisation (Kubernetes) for streamlined deployments.
- Construct and manage CI/CD pipelines, security policies, and orchestrational tools (e.g. Docker).
- Focus on Data-Centric Interoperability (Zero Trust/Data-Centric Security) using software engineering best practice.
- Work across technical pillars (Apps, Platform, Workloads) to provide security-driven automation.
- Participate in code reviews and stay ahead of emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
Your key contributions may include:
- Collaborating with Experimentation, Production, and Development teams to design, build, and maintain secure solutions.
- Code translation of security standards into implementation, ensuring secure deployments.
- Developing interactive UIs (JavaScript/TypeScript, React) for end-users and administrators.
- Ensuring consistent deployments via Kubernetes/Docker.
- Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for secure, automated software delivery.
- Writing custom code for Data-Centric Security workloads following best practices.
- Supporting orchestration and automation across apps, platforms, and workloads.
- Participating in DevOps tasks under pillar leads (Apps, Platforms, Workloads).
- Providing constructive feedback during code reviews and internal discussions.
- Continuing professional development to keep your skills aligned with industry trends.

Requirements & Skills
We seek technically strong, collaborative engineers with:
- Extensive experience in Azure, Hyper-V, or VCF deployment environments.
- Proficient Git usage (version control and collaborative coding).
- Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, architecture).
- Kubernetes/Docker experience for containerisation and deployment.
- DevOps expertise, including:
- CI/CD pipeline implementations.
- Automated testing frameworks.
- Security-first mindset: experience with secure development practices, networking/endpoint security, and Zero Trust principles.
- Public/private cloud proficiency (Azure/VCF priority, but other cloud experience appreciated).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
- Adaptability: capability to learn quickly in dynamic teams.
- Communication skills: articulate technical complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-solving & curiosity: driven by continuous improvement and innovation challenges.
