Bonus: Up to £5,000 annually
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends
Location: London, with regular presence at DFY Academy sites and partner schools in Brent

About the Role
DFY is a growing London charity using sport to create confidence, belonging and opportunity for children and young people.
The DFY Academy Growth & Operations Manager will take ownership of the reliable delivery, growth and commercial development of the DFY Academy. The role will directly oversee football and basketball, coordinate Academy-wide systems and work closely with Sara, who retains ownership of dance.
This is not a maintenance-only operations role. We are looking for someone who can think commercially and creatively about how DFY can grow: increasing participation, strengthening routes from schools and communities into the Academy, developing partnerships, opening new locations and helping shape DFY’s long-term expansion across London.
The initial priorities are to:
- Stabilise Academy operations
- Grow existing football, basketball and dance programmes
- Expand into new schools and London areas
- Assess additional sports once the core Academy is operating strongly
Why Work with DFY?
The Academy is not only about running sessions or winning matches. It creates accessible pathways for children who may otherwise be excluded from organised sport and helps families and communities connect through consistent, high-quality provision.
This role offers genuine ownership and autonomy. The responsibilities below are the foundation, not the limit. The successful candidate will be encouraged to test ideas, challenge existing approaches and build new opportunities where they support DFY’s mission and are operationally and financially realistic.
Academy Operations
Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of day-to-day football and basketball operations while coordinating Academy-wide systems.
- Ensure sessions, teams, venues, coaches, registrations, fixtures, equipment and communications are organised accurately and on time.
- Manage coach rotas and resolve staffing gaps, cancellations and delivery issues quickly.
- Oversee pitches, venues, registrations, trials, waiting lists and participant onboarding.
- Ensure clear and timely communication with parents and coaches.
- Maintain accurate attendance, capacity and participant records.
- Support holiday camp delivery where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
